ABOUT JOY
An expressive and vibrantly colorful line of stationery called JOY was born when designer Mel Lim could not find correspondence cards to send home that were not white in color! Her old nanny would have flipped if she had seen a white card as white is the color of death in the Chinese culture. Coupled with her background in interior design, Mel created her line using energetic symbolic colors and elements, blending East & West, modern and vintage, letterpress and offset printing.
Within a year since it’s debut in 2005, her products have been featured in over 500 lifestyle fashion and design magazines, blogs and she has been hailed the next California Stylemaker. Today the line has become a lifestyle brand, covering paper + patterns to home + fashion accessories and can be found in over 1000 retailers nationwide and internationally.

Mel Lim Design LLC celebrates it’s 7th anniversary this year. The studio today designs and consults for Fortune 500 companies ranging from tech to telecommunications companies, with work covering UI/UX design to strategy and branding.
